Chicken fried pork, which is similar to chicken fried steak but uses tender cubed pork, is a delicious weeknight meal. This delectable country cooking dinner will be enjoyed by the entire family.
Sweet and salty southern style country breading makes this pork tender and juicy. It’s fried to golden brown and served with a creamy gravy that’s made from scratch.
Ingredients :
- 3-6 Cubed Pork Steaks
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- 2 c Flour all purpose
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp Paprika
- 2 tsp Water
- 1 Egg
- 1/4 c Buttermilk
- Oil for frying
How to make Tenderized Pork:
- Allow the cubed pork to warm up.
- Flour and seasonings in a bowl Mix well.
- Separately beat egg. Whisk in buttermilk and water.
- Heat 1/4′′ vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Dredge each piece of cubed pork in flour mixture, then in wet mixture, and finally back in flour mixture. Add to pan.
How to cook Southern Fried Pork Chops :
- Cook for 5 minutes on each side until browned and juices run clear.
- With a paper towel-lined plate, remove the chicken fired pork steaks from the pan.
- Wait 5 minutes before serving.

- About five minutes on each side, until browned and juices run clear, then remove from the pan.
- With a paper towel lined plate, remove chicken fired pork steaks from pan.
- Wait 5 minutes before serving.

- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- Gravy
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 large cloves garlic minced
- 2 tbsp sherry
- 1 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 tbsp wondra quick mixing flour
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Mix flour, bread crumbs, oregano, basil, and garlic powder in a shallow plate. Steak cubes should be seasoned on both sides before being dredged in flour. On a medium heat, combine the butter and olive oil. For about 3-4 minutes on each side, cook the cube steaks until they're golden brown. Place in a warm oven after removal from pan.
- Add garlic to same skillet on low heat. Cook for 30 seconds. 2 tbsp sherry, reduce by half Parsley, oregano, and onion powder 5 min simmer Melt butter and whisk in flour to make a roux. Whisk in roux to chicken broth mixture slowly. Cook until gravy-like consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately with cube steaks.

Ingredients
- 1 - 1 1/2 lbs cubed steak
- 1 cup self rising flour
- 1/2 tbsp black pepper
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1/4 tbsp granulated garlic
- 1/4 tbsp onion powder
- vegetable or corn oil
- 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Add 1/2 inch of oil to a medium high heat cast iron skillet. In a shallow plate, combine flour and seasonings with a fork. Coat a few cubes of steak in seasoned flour. Your oil is ready when a drop of flour sizzles.
- Reduce heat to medium and add a few pieces of steak to the oil. Brown steak, then carefully flip and cook other side. Remove to a plate and cook steak to your liking. Remaining flour for gravy.
- Reduce heat to low and pour out all but a tablespoon of oil. Stir in the remaining flour and cook, stirring constantly, for a minute or two until browned. Scrape up any browned bits from the pan. Stir in chicken broth slowly while gravy thickens.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the cubed steak until ready to serve. I served it with mashed potatoes as a side dish.
